Squirrel Point Light

Squirrel Point Light on the Kennebec south of Bath. Phippsburg Congregational church can be seen on the far shore.

Crimson beacon waits,
Still water shimmers,
White steeple answers.

This photograph captures a small shingled lighthouse with striking red-glass windows standing against a calm riverside backdrop. A white church steeple across the water mirrors its quiet watchfulness, uniting faith and navigation in one coastal tableau.

Squirrel Point is south of Bath on the Kennebec and is home to a closed keeper's house and lifeboat station in addition to this lighthouse. The Phippsburg Congregational church can be seen in the background. #CX1A2451, Sep. 20, 2023

I took this photo in on Lori and my anniversary in 2023. Instead of going out to dinner, we had to take our dog Quill to the vet for an ear infections in Freeport at 5:30 that day. Squirrel Point was on the way, so we took a little hike. Here is a video I made about it.

This is definitely one of my favorite photos. So much so that I have a 2 x 3 foot canvas print of it by my bedroom door. Admittedly, I needed it that big to cover up my breaker box, but it is a striking photo and I enjoy seeing it every time I go upstairs.
