Glide of the Young Gull

A young seagull soars low over the water, its wings outstretched in steady flight. The sunlight sparkles on the surface, turning the sea into a shifting field of light.

Feather above light—the sea holds a thousand suns.

This photograph captures a young seagull gliding effortlessly above rippling water, where sunlight scatters in brilliant flashes. The interplay of wing and wave, bird and light, creates a moment suspended between motion and stillness.

Taken from Whitehead Cliffs on Monhegan Island on Sep. 16, 2025.

I can’t help myself, whenever a bird flies by, I try to snap a shot of it. 99% of the time I end up deleting it, but now and then I get something I like. Looking down from the top of Whitehead cliffs, I got the opportunity to take some shots from above and I kind of like this one.
